Stop Feeling and Start Thinking

The original Star trek TV series, Season 3 Episode 6 (I looked it up) was set in a western themed town where the crew of the Enterprise were being challenged to gunfights by outlaws who controlled the town. Their modern weapons were useless, and people kept being shot and killed. The turning point was when someone figured out that the whole town was an illusion, and circumstances only happened if you felt it was real. Once belief changed to reflect reason rather than emotion, everything worked out differently.

We have been taught to see what is presented and believe it is real because of how we feel at that moment. As long as we accept that reality and act on our feelings, we will keep getting what we are trying to avoid.

Feeling produces Trump Derangement Syndrome on the left, and Democrat Derangement Syndrome on the right. If today’s political arena were a football game, the turf would be worn out between the two 45-yard lines and players would be worn out, ragged and bloodied on both teams; but the scoreboard would read Home-0, Guest-0.

It is time for the broad majority of people from all sides of the political mess to decide that changes need to be made immediately or this will never get any better for either side. America does not need to replace people to fix this, we need to repair the system. Our Constitution still works if it is applied. That document is not a stick to hammer our opponents; it is a tool to effectively stop a runaway government and return it to its clear boundaries. There are individuals and groups who are calling out for this kind of peaceful, legal, Constitutional effort, and each of us must decide if we will continue to battle each other with our feelings or win the game with reason, respect, and shared values.
